About

Bitter is a design studio based in Berlin, founded by me, Nina Birri, as a space of exploration for fashion in a de-growth utopia. What does it mean to design, produce and engage around fashion in a more integrated, connected and kind way? I am interested in decoupling the pursuit of novelty on a conceptual level from the continuous extraction of raw material.

Working with pre- and post-consumer waste provides me with the opportunity to enter into conversation with the shapes, designs and textures that already exist creating space for them to be relevant in the present.

The first collection is a line of jackets and coats reusing discarded pants and knit sweaters. Their shapes have been carefully developed to integrate functional and decorative elements of the original garments while maintaining a strong focus on fit and a clean, retro futuristic design language.
